// Biography //

Tohru, the first drummer of Moi dix Mois, is a very skilled musician with a long musical career. He's an amazing drummer with great technique, excellent both in speed and precision. He played for Moi dix Mois since its foundation, but until 2004 he's always been listed as support member, while after the release of the single "Shadows Temple" he became the official Moi dix Mois drummer. However, he left the band in December 2005, together with Kazuno, probably because he didn't want to continue in a full-time band like Moi dix Mois.

Tohru is one of the most respected musicians in the Nagoya Visual Kei scene. His musical biography begins in 1991, when he founded the band Merry Go Round together with Harii (vocals), KEN (guitar), Shin (bass). Merry Go Round was close-tied to another Nagoya band, ANTIC DOLL, and soon guitarist KEN left the band to be replaced by ANTIC DOLL's former member DEAD. Informations are really uncertain because they were completely unknown at the time, but Merry Go Round probably released a demo tape in 1991 or 1993. In 1994 they decided to disband (they reunited later, though) and guitarist DEAD returned to his former band, ANTIC DOLL, soon after also Tohru joined that band, but left them very soon to join one of the most famous Gothic/Visual Kei bands in Nagoya at the time: Of-J.

Of-J was lead by guitarist Mamiya Kaoru, former leader of SUS4 and GARNET, two seminal Gothic/VK bands which had the famous Kiyoharu (Kuroyume, SADS) as vocalist. With Tohru in the lineup, in 1995 Of-J partecipated in the important compilation "TURN OVER" (EAGLE VERSION) released by Nippon Crown, and also in the COSMIC FIELDS omnibus CD. They also released the single "SCENE" and the full-album "FLAT" in 1996. Around 1997 Of-J changed their name in CLAUDIA and released 4 demo tapes the following two years: "CLAUDIA", "NEGOTIATOR ZERO", "NEGOTIATOR ONE", "NEGOTIATOR TWO". After that, in late 1999, Tohru left the band. Around this time, he also returned to his former band Merry Go Round to play drums as a support members, but never re-joined them officially.

(Note: since Of-J had in 1992 -1994 another drummer called Tohru, that later became member of FANATIC CRISIS, our Tohru joined with the name Tomiyasu Tooru, probably his real name).

In January 2000 he joined JILS, the famous Gothic/Visual band of YUKIYA, former vocalist of DSIRE and head of the Kreis label, until their concert at Shibuya O-EAST on August 24th, 2000, when JILS announced they were taking a break. Tohru, as well as Mariki and Ren, officially left the band on November 11th. However, in this period with Tohru on drums JILS released a lot of records: the maxi singles "JIL NOIR", "JIL BLANCHE",

"CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU", "XIX" "YφU-FOR ALL NEXT GENERATION-", "Shiro", "Kuro", and the album "SAD SONGS", as well as a partecipation in the 2000 edition of the big STARCHILD compilation "Shock Edge". Another interesting release was a Fanclub-only single called "TOHRU DISK" that featured a song entirely written by Tohru entitled "D"?. JILS later released a regular edition of this CD in the "XXI" single, together with the "REN DISK". In 2002 finally, Tohru joined Mana's project Moi dix Mois as a support drummer.

But Tohru take part in several other projects: as I said, he was part of the Nagoya Visual Kei scene, and was close to people like RIKA (Kuroyume and Silver Rose roadie, then guitarist of Ad de Vidar and of the famous Gothic band ROUAGE) and Kouichi (former Silver Rose guitarist, and later also in the notorious Laputa). So in 1993, '94 and '95 Tohru was part of the super-session band Owarisakuragumi, lead by MAHIRO (FAME), YASUHIRO (Sleep My Dear), HITOSHI (Silver Rose) and Kouichi (Silver Rose, Laputa). Also ROUAGE's bassist KAIKI (owner of the Soleil label) partecipated in '94. Tohru also returned in Owarisakuragumi in 2001, for the recording of their self-titled demotape, with the help of RIKA (ROUAGE), they also recorded the demo Kuroneko and the single Sakuragumi. Strangely those recordings are all covers of songs by the band Jakura (雀羅), a relatively young VK band produced by MAHIRO.

After Owarisakuragumi, RIKA wanted to create his own band, because in the meantime his main band ROUAGE disbanded, and so dibs was born. But after their first album and the national tour the bassist and the drummer (both members of OUTRAGE) left the band and RIKA called Tohru to play the drums, playing the first concert with dibs in September 2003. But he didn't stay long in the band and soon was replaced by Matsuura Hiroshi at the end of 2003. Another Nagoya project Tohru partecipated in is the solo project of aki, vocalist of Laputa. Aki started his project in 2005 and Tohru joined as the support drummer, playing at the first Aki solo concert on July 29th at Shibuya O-WEST, followed by other lives, but left the project later the same year.

Tohru also played in 2 one-time session bands in 2003: The Shining Wizard, that released the song カロリー (Calorie) on the compilation S.T.F (Session To Future); and Opa Rockers (with Loop Ash owner Michiru) releasing the song エロトピアの泉 (EROTOPIA no Izumi) on the omnibus CD Shock Edge 2003.

Tohru still works as a session drummer (also for studio recordings) for various bands and projects, but he also works as a drums technician. He played drums for JO:YA (ex DopeHEADz vocalist) solo project album (side note: on guitar is MARIKI of GRAND ZERO, K's previous band). He also played a concert in a session band lead by Heath (ex X JAPAN, Lynx) on January 12th, 2006, and supported Kaya (ex Schwarz Stein) for his first solo concert on June 23rd, 2006.
